Current Projects

 

The GIS Department is currently working on updating and measuring all B-Class roads in the County.  This update is required by UDOT in order to help Wayne County secure all the necessary funding for the maintenance of our B-Class Roads.  This update includes using GPS to determine the length of each road and marking the locations were right-of-way measurements are being made.  Right-of-way measurements will be used to help identify how much space the County has in order to make improvements or increase the width of roads should the need arise.  Any questions can be directed to Brandon.

 

The GIS Department working in conjunction with the Wayne County Travel Council and Mark Wade of Oculus Media have been working on identifying and getting GPS coordinates for numerous trails, both ATV and Hiking trails, located in Wayne County in order to provide information to the public on what to expect or what is available for use.  PDF documents are available on the Travel Council webpage, http://www.capitolreef.org/trails-search.html , for your viewing pleasure.  Any questions regarding these trails can be directed to the GIS Department or the Travel Council Visitor Center.

 

Fish Creek Cove Road Improvement Project

On April 26th the GIS and Road Departments met with property owners and county residents to introduce and discuss the proposed improvements to be made to the Fish Creek Cove Road.  The proposed improvements were to upgrade the condition of the road surface and improve drainage crossings.  These improvements are being discussed with the intent to improve the road for emergency services and public safety.  The BLM was also in attendance and provided insight on the improvements they have planned for a historical site located at the end of the road.  There were many excellent comments made regarding this project.  Anyone wishing to comment on this project can download the official comment page below and return to the GIS or Road Department.  All comments will be taken into account.  Any questions can be directed to Rhett Jeffery, Road Dept. Maps of Wayne County are available.  The GIS Dept offers maps ranging from road maps to land use maps. Contact the GIS Dept. to make your request. Maps can be printed and bought at the GIS Dept office or can be emailed.
