Factory Butte is one of Wayne County's main landmarks, and has been popular with off-highway vehicle owners for many years.
Factory Butte is about 15 miles northwest of Hanksville and near the Dirty Devil River. The area is ideal for ATVs and motorcycles.
The land surrounding Factory Butte is a barren region that is void of plants and vegetation, but filled with spectacular challenges for motorcycle riding and other OHV use. The area is also perfect for cross-country travel, and has vast flat expanses combined with hills and slopes with knife-edge ridges for riding. Commonly referred to as "Swing Arm City" by locals and visitors alike, this area has been featured in many motorcross videos.
The Factory Butte area is located north of Highway 24 in Wayne County. With the exception of North Caineville Mesa, the Factory Butte Area is designated “open” for OHV use under BLM's present land use plans. The area has long been used for unrestricted OHV recreation.
